Libya bans its citizen’s satellite phones


The Libyan government has forbidden its citizens the use of unregistered satellite phones. When threatened with illegal possession of such devices for high treason, the death penalty . The Libyan news agency Jana reported on Friday.
Previously the government had declared that any user of unlicensed satellite phones as a spy for the NATO would consider. In February, the riots against the regime in power by Muammar al-Qaddafi in Libya broke, letting the government lock the mobile network in the country. Since then, many Libyans take back to satellite phones.
As of now, fighting continued around the strategically important town of Brega. Gaddafi's troops are thought to have an attack of the rebels held out. A residential area which is about 15 kilometres away from the oil port was, therefore, on Friday, contrary to previous information is not entirely under control of insurgents. The area had not yet-been secured; a rebel spokesperson conceded Mohammed Sawawi. "There are still some Gaddafi soldiers there." On Thursday, the rebels had announced the capture of the residential area.
