The Statue of Liberty closed its doors for a year for security reforms


The Statue of Liberty will be close for renovations for a year, as announced by the Home Secretary, Ken Salarzar on information gathered on Thursday for "The New York Times" on its website.

Although the amount of the reforms is estimated at around $ 34 million , which will be distributed to improve the safety and escape routes, officials whose identity was not revealed by the U.S. daily has ensured that the works will not start , since no projects have been completed or determined finance. Also pointed out that they do not want the statue remains closed on October 28 , the 125th anniversary of its opening, so it will be closed to the public the next day.
