The surprise German slowdown hampers the recovery in Europe


Economic recovery in the European Union (EU) and the euro zone slowed in the second quarter, a period in which GDP grew by only 0.2% in both, according to preliminary data released Tuesday by the Statistical Office Euro stat. This data comes after confirmation by the National Statistics Institute (INE) of Spain grows a tenth less than last quarter , bringing the increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at 0.2%. In previous quarter, the economy of the euro zone countries and the EU had expanded by 0.8%.
The slowdown in the German economy has been the great disappointment Between April and June, however, the pace slowed across the board , very clearly in the major economies of the euro, which either did not grow as France , or did so sparingly and Italy(0.3%) and Spain (0.2%) and Germany (0.1%).
